Hector L Torres – Head Coach
Anything is possible!!!
Hector L. Torres has an impressive academic background, boasting two Masters degrees in the fields of Sport & Fitness and Health Science – with specializations in both Sport Leadership/Coaching and Sports Performance respectively. His devotion to sport extends beyond his educational qualifications; over a span of twenty years he presented outstanding voluntary service as Chairman for USA Triathlon Florida/Southeast Region along with acting as Paratriathlon Coordinator for that region too! He is also the founding figure behind Central FL’s Tri Club (CFL Tŕi Club), established 2005, while concurrently operating multi-sport coaching business ‘Tri Peak Athlete’ since 2007.
Under the guidance of triathlon coach Hector, CFL Tri Club has become renowned as the most structured club in USA. His ability to prepare athletes for Ironman events and championship qualifiers is unparalleled – a testament to his commitment and hard-earned knowledge from completing 32 of these endurance feats himself! Notably, he was also Head Coach for Team USA 2012’s Paratriathlon team—a remarkable feat indeed.
Hector is also the Head Coach for Special Olympics Team Florida.
Beginning of Triathlon in Special Olympics

Hector L. Torres was approached by Wynne McFarlin of the Central Florida Tri Club in mid-2018 about a unique collaboration – Special Olympics wanted to launch an ambitious pilot triathlon program throughout Florida. Without hesitation, Hector and Wynne took up the challenge, starting with reaching out to other sports for awareness before sourcing athletes for their newly formed training program.
They started with six athletes. Coach Torres assessed all athletes and started training them. It was a vast undertaking, as many of these athletes have different disabilities. Regardless of the task, the job of a coach is to adapt and modify. With four races scheduled for the first season, the program was a success. Every single year the program continues to grow.
Chris Nikic was one of the first athletes in the program. It wasn’t till the end of 2019 and the beginning of March that Chris took his training seriously.
With one step at a time and a team of individuals, Chris completed a non-official 70.3 distance course and complete Ironman Florida.
Hector Torres is very dedicated in his line of work and without hesitation, he is always willing to take on another task. He is the Head Coach of Team Florida and is helping other states implement their program as well.

I am interested in finding out more information on getting some 1:1 coaching for swim. I work in Orlando and live in Merritt Island so trying to get something around my schedule. My “‘A:” race this year is FL IM in November
Hector is a great guy and great athlete. He coached me to an overall win in Daytona as the FROG MAN and an amazing race at Iron man st, George with the training and diet I had a personal best andUSATt rank of 99.5 at the toughest iron man in the world. I finished ahead of 9 male pro’s and only did it with the plan Heactor gave me. This was the best of many world class coaches I had. Thanks Heactor
